7 Years Old and Designing with Haus of JR
We've been following Dear Giana for some time now. Her fashion illustrations are as rad as her style and the 7 year old artist just collaborated with uber cool fashion haus: Haus of JR.
Giana co-designed 5 prints with the brand and we're pretty sure you'll want all of them this summer. From Kermit x Supreme to Moschino and Dior - the coolest tee's that are about to enter your 7 year olds wardrobe - were designed by one.
We caught up with Giana, who put down her mom's issues of I-D Magazine and crayons to chat with petitePARADE on elevating street fashion for kids, her fashion choices & summer plans.
pP: We love your illustrations, what inspired you to take your artwork in the route of the fashion industry?
G: Because I like fashion and watching fashion tv shows with my mommy and she has loooooots of magazines. I like looking at VOGUE and watching Project Runway Junior. It’s fun to watch because I like to see how hard they work. I like how you get to see all of the designers while they work.
pP: Dear Giana - Your style is so cool, do you dress yourself or does mom have anything to do with that?
G: My mom used to dress me for school, but not anymore. I dress myself on my own and I know what I like to wear. When we take photos, my mom dresses me and we have fun together picking different clothes and styles.
pP: What's your favorite tee/graphic from the collection with Haus of JR?
G: My favorite piece is the Dior graphic, because of the cool hat and the way it looks. I had fun drawing it too. I liked making all of the crisscrosses and drawing all of the lines on the hat.
pP: How did you first learn you were an artist?
G: I always liked making art. I always used to tell my Daddy that I just want to make art projects all day. I used to like getting paper to cut and fold to make new shapes, games, and making fun projects.
pP: What are your earliest memories of drawing?
G: I remember when I used to draw stick people with simple shapes. One time I got a fashion drawing set for my birthday. You could make different outfits to draw and color. It had lots of stencils; I think it was a Project Runway art kit.
pP: Summer is almost here! What are you most looking forward to?
G: I want to draw more and make a lot of projects. I want to go to a waterpark and go swimming with my family.
