A Tight Knit Spring with I Love Doodle Do
We caught up with Celsa, designer of I Love Doodle Do and between her designs and the whimsy capture by Emily Kornya of the Spring/Summer 18 collection - we're in LOVE with Doodle Do! Read up on her inspiration for designing and the role her kids play in the brand...and yes, they're spending summer looking for mermaids!
pP: Your collection is so unique and earthy. What inspired it?
DD: The collection is based on doodles of my kids and their friends. It's no frills and just their pure imaginations that I then clean up and put on garments. We give them a theme (that is often chosen by my youngest!) and they doodle away. The styles are always earthy with a little twist on the knitwear and reminiscent of my childhood days with the old fashioned knitted dungarees that have been given a slightly modern twist.
This season was the Brazilian carnival theme and I am guessing the elephant my daughter saw last played a big role in deciding her theme :)
pP: Who is your collection designed for? What type of kid?
DD: The collection is designed for kids who like to be comfortable and play; yet special enough to stand out - as we say about our playsuits - our playsuits are meant for playing! It ignites their imaginations and opens windows for questions and I think any type of kid could have fun with that. To be able to think of anything and believe anything is possible….
pP: What piece from your collection do you think every kid needs in their wardrobe for Spring/Summer 17?
DD: I think the chilli rompers for the babies are a must :) and the multi coloured knitwear dress is really special for the girls , the cream knitted cardigan perfect to layer on and great for those slightly chilly days.
pP: Where are you based?
DD: I Love Doodle Do is based in London!
pP: Now that temperatures are finally warming up - summer plans?
DD: Have just finished a sourcing and factory trip in India , with SS18 into work and trade shows booked, I can now focus on some family time - we have a trip to Israel and Europe planned for this summer and with some luck we will also do in Goa end of May. My youngest wants to find mermaids in Goa as apparently there are loads of them there on some magical rocks :) So we have quite an exciting time ahead...
