We caught up with Mogens Jepsen, the brains behind ever-so-cool, childrenswear go-to brand Molo. Each Molo collection we have the opportunity to preview is always exciting. From original prints and patterns to unique bomber jackets and jumpsuits we have your entire spring wardrobe covered in one-stop with Molo - just in time for Spring Break!

pP: Your SS17 collection is about to hit shelves, what's your favorite print everyone must keep an eye open for?

Molo: We are working a lot with pastel colours in our digital printed universe for girls this season where as the colour palette for the boys both contains bold and strong colours as well as sun bleeched and dip dyed colours.

Picking out one favorite print would be like having to pick which of your children is your favourite. But worth mentioning are Lovely Lhama, Ice Scoops and Sugar Flowers for the girls and Tunnel Skaters, Dusty Soccer and Video Race for the boys.

pP: As a staple brand that's been designing childrenswear since 2003, what has been your 'A'ha' moment you're most proud of?

Molo: We’ve had a lot of defining moments on this journey we’ve been on so far. Every time we decide to enter a new market, open a new showroom or open a brand shop it’s a change and a defining moment. You give it all your energy and hope for a succesfull outcome. As an example we opened a brandstore in Hong Kong 2 years ago and since their culture differs so much from the European, it’s was and still is a very interesting chapter for us to embark.

pP: We love your mission of sustainability, what advice can you give our readers on dressing sustainably?

Molo: All of Molo’s iconic all over printed textiles in jersey plus a lot of new additions such as cashmere knits are certified in accordance with the global Oeko-Tex Standard 100. This means the products never contain chemicals or other harmful substances that are detrimental to the health of the children.

So when you buy new clothes go for Oeko-Tex labeled or organic clothes and pass it on to your friends or loved ones when it doesn’t fit your child anymore. That’s also sustainability.

pP: Has Molo been spotted on any influential/celebrity kids?

Molo: Oh yes, Molo has indeed been spotted on cool celebrity kids such as Liv Tyler’s son, Usher’s son, Tori Spelling’s little girl, Jennifer Lopez’s twins and Beyonce’s daughter, Blue Ivy.

pP: Each Molo collection is vast in its amount of SKU's - how many pieces are in your SS17 collection?

Molo: We have around 1200 pieces including swimwear on our SS17 collection. This include all colour and print options plus accessories.

pP: Wow! Can you pick 3 pieces from your SS17 collection that every kid needs in their wardrobe?

Molo: You definitely need a leather jacket in your wardrobe. For the girls we have our Hope leather jacket in lovely pastel colours, which works both as a cool cardigan on top of a dress or t-shirt or as a lighter jacket for the cooler days during Spring and Summer.

Huxi is the name of our leather jacket for boys and with it’s casual bomber look, patches on front and butter soft leather it’s perfect for everyday use adding a bit of edginess to your outfit.

Besides that our sleeveless Carli dress with digital printed birds and a wide, puff skirt is a perfect style easy to dress both up with sandals and a cute hair band or down with a leather jacket and sneakers.

And boys can’t have too many sweatshirts, can they? Our Marzel coarsely woven sweatshirt with turtleneck and all over digital printed race numbers is a cool interpretation of the classic sweatshirt.
